One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest part III

As another day in the ward is dwindling away, something out of the norm takes place. While lying in bed, the black boy points out to McMurphy that Chief Bromden is always chewing gum but where does he get it from being that he has no money. Realizing that McMurphy gives Chief Bromden a piece of gum and Chief says thank you. After that, Chief Bromden felt secure enough to open up to McMurphy by telling him his history. He explains his family when he was younger but he explains in depth that he was always treated like he was invisible so he always listened and never responded. Causing him to be cagey. Chief Bromden has finally found a reliable companion and isn't alone anymore.
